10 "Just-For-Fun" Non-Credit Classes You Can Take This Spring

Looking for something fun to do next semester? Take a non-credit class at JJC! JJC's continuing education courses are fun and interest-based, meant more for enjoyment than a grade. These classes, which are open to both students and community members, cover a wide range of topics which include cooking, music, crafts and more. They are offered every semester.

Take a look at our list below where we list ten "just-for-fun" classes you can take this spring!

1. It's Time for Sushi! (LLC 5571)
City Center Campus
Tuesday, Feb. 12
6 to 9 p.m.

Learn how to make sushi at home in this hands-on class! You'll learn how to make both raw and cooked versions, featuring fresh, tasty ingredients.

2. Movie Music: Romance (LLC 5586)
Romeoville Campus
Thursday, Feb. 14
10 a.m. to Noon

Looking for a romantic date idea for Valentine's Day? More than 30 classic songs and dances from the greatest films in history will be featured in this entertaining session.

3. Intro to Art (LLC 5604)
Main Campus
Thursdays, Feb. 21 to April 11
6 to 8:30 p.m.

From drawing and painting to ceramics and wire sculpture, you'll explore a variety of mediums as you exercise your creativity in this introductory class. A supply list will be provided.

4. What Your Signature Says About You (LLC 5346)

1 to 3 p.m.

Ever wondered what your signature says about you? Learn the basics of handwriting analysis and gain insight into your thinking style and emotional expression in this introductory class.

5. The Art of Storytelling: An Oral Tradition (LLC 3963)

Tuesdays, March 19 and 26
6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Learn how to tell a compelling story in this hands-on, skills-oriented course. Beginners welcome.

6. Keep It - Toss It (LLC 5032)

Thursday, March 21
6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

It's time to start spring cleaning! Learn the guidelines for how to decide what to keep or toss/sell/donate.

7. Learn to Play the Ukulele (LLC 5381)
Main Campus
Saturday, March 30
9 a.m. to Noon 

Have you ever thought about learning the ukulele? Take this one-day class to get acquainted with the instrument. You'll learn basic chords, common songs and even some pop tunes. No previous musical experience is necessary. The course fee includes a ukulele and an electronic tuner.

8. Pottery Workshop: Flower Pots (LLC 5563)
Main Campus
Saturdays, March 30 and April 6
11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Learn basic hand-pottery techniques as you create a flower pot for yourself (or to give as a gift) in this beginner course. All supplies will be provided.

9. Outdoor Meditation (LLC 5585)
Main Campus Campus
Saturday, April 27
9 to 11 a.m.

Enjoy the benefits of group meditation and the outdoors! If weather does not permit outdoor meditation, class will be held indoors with a picturesque view of JJC’s natural landscape. Blankets and pillows are optional.

)

6 to 9 p.m.

Want a treat without the oven heat? In this class, you'll learn how to make a variety of no bake cookies that offer rich, homemade flavors.
