While there are many benefits to taking summer classes (check out 10 of them here), it's no secret that they can be challenging. And since the semester is shorter, it's essential to be on top of your game. If this is your first time taking a summer class, look no further than our blog below, where we highlight a few tips and tricks that will help you successfully complete your class.
Not enrolled?
You can still register for our 2018 summer sessions starting on May 21, June 4 or July 2 by visiting MyJJC.
Tip #1. Don't miss class.
Because summer classes only last six to eight weeks, it's important to attend every class and take notes so that you retain as much information as possible. If you miss a class in the summer, you'll miss a lot more material than you would in the fall or spring.
Tip #2. Schedule time with a tutor in the Tutoring and Learning Center.
The Tutoring and Learning Center is still open over the summer! If you're struggling, set up an appointment with one of the staff's individual tutors. The best part? It's completely free!

Tip #3. Meet with a counselor or adviser to help manage your stress.
If at any time you feel like you've got too much on your plate, make an appointment with Mental Health Services or visit your faculty advisor. They can help you come up with individual ways to manage your stress. These services are free to JJC students.

Tip #4. Put yourself on a schedule and plan ahead.
By figuring out your schedule ahead of time, and allotting certain parts of the day for studying and homework, you'll feel a lot more organized. If you're just playing it by ear, you might find yourself rushing to the last minute to get everything done.
Tip #5. Ask questions if there's something you don't understand.
Never be afraid to ask questions. If you're not understanding the material that's being taught, don't hesitate to ask your professor to explain it in a different way.
Tip #6. Cut yourself a break.
Take time to realize just how awesome you are for accomplishing so much this summer!
